SOFTBALL > Sally Miller’s squad is looking to build on the success of last year, when the team went 20-12 and advanced to the third round of the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship Tournament. The 2016 season gets underway March 5, when the Lions travel to Salisbury, Maryland, to play four games in two days. The team’s home opener, part of a double-header against SUNY-Cortland, is scheduled for March 25 at 2 p.m.
BASEBALL > Lions baseball fans are hoping senior right fielder Pat Roberts picks up where he left off last season. Roberts (pictured) was a consistent force at the plate in 2015, batting .364 and leading the team in total bases (71), triples (3), home runs (4), on-base percentage (.444), and slugging percentage (.538). He was also perfect in the field, not making a single error while securing 40 putouts. The Lions 2016 campaign gets underway March 1 with a home game against Gwynedd Mercy University. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
LACROSSE > TCNJ opens the season with four consecutive road games—the first scheduled for Feb. 27, when Sharon Pfluger’s squad will travel to Montclair to square off against Fredonia. The Lions and Blue Devils were one step away from advancing to the NCAA national semifinal last year, and both will seek to better their outcome this spring. TCNJ’s home opener is scheduled for March 19 at 1 p.m. against Gettysburg.
