Accounting and Information Systems Department Wins 2010 Dahne Award for Faculty Excellence
In 2004, TCNJ Foundation received a bequest from Mildred M. Dahne ’32, which earmarked $217,000 to annually recognize faculty excellence. This year’s winner, the Department of Accounting and Information Systems, was recognized for its accomplishments in the areas of excellence in teaching, academic excellence, and student involvement.
The Department of Accounting and Information Systems was named the winner of the Mildred Dahne Award for academic year 2009–10. John Marcy, vice president for college advancement at TCNJ, presented department faculty members and William Keep, dean of the School of Business, with the award at a Faculty Senate meeting on May 5, 2010.
The accounting and information systems department won the award based on its accomplishments in the areas of excellence in teaching, academic excellence, and student involvement. Some of the department’s notable accomplishments were the development of an innovative capstone course, along with presenting multiple stakeholders’ testimonies regarding the program’s high standards. The department’s application also highlighted a continuing and strong collaboration of students with faculty in research, along with an impressive list of scholarly work by faculty.
In 2004, TCNJ Foundation received a bequest from Mildred M. Dahne ’32, which earmarked $217,000 to annually recognize faculty excellence. The Department of Accounting and Information Systems received a $6,000 cash prize this year, which according to the Faculty Senate’s Web site can be used to augment departmental funds or as stipend and professional development funds that may be used to cover the costs of attending conferences or the purchase of equipment and resource materials.
